Cold forming provides remarkable flexibility making it possible to manufacture just about any geometrical shape. As shown in the picture, material is fed from a coil of wire into and through metal the wire working rollers online of the cold forming machine, where the metal wire is precisely cut by the wire shear working and transferred to the first of several die cavities where it is struck online with a punch or hammer (this is called ''a blow'').
